Here are screenshots and explanations of just some of the types of software (winforms and webforms) that have been created.

OPC Explorer in a Web Browser

The OPC Web Explorer combines server-side ASP scripting along with client-side Javascripting to create a 100% web-based OPC Client explorer/browser. This browser offers the following functionality:

  • OPC Server browsing on the local computer, and remote computers [top-left pane]
  • OPC Server Status browsing [bottom-left pane]
  • OPC Tag browsing [middle pane]
  • OPC Tag Data [top-right pane] showing live/realtime OPC Data without page refreshes
  • Ability to write to a Tag [top-right pane]
  • Ability to Chart a range of Tags [middle pane]
  • Ability to email information regarding a Tag [top-right pane]

The Greenhouse Demo

The Greenhouse demo offers more functionality than is listed here. From this web-based HMI you can not only monitor realtime values from the greenhouse, but also control various points within the greenhouse too.

Palmetto Brewery

The Palmetto Brewery screen here utilizes DHTML to update many of the controls/values within this page in real-time without page-refreshes. Some utilization of other instrumentation controls (http://www.instrumentationopc.com/) were needed for visualization effects.

Pocket PC

The above screenshot is from our Pocket PC demo. No software was downloaded/needed to run this page on the PocketPC. We simply loaded the webpage into the PocketPC’s web-browser and instantly started receiving live OPC values.

Trending in a Browser

This particular page is dynamic, and utilizes some server-side ASP scripting to dynamically build the page, as well as client-side scripting for the real-time charting. This page receives arguments via a querystring, such as the OPC Server and the Tags. The web-server then dynamically builds this page to show the data at the top of the page, as well as configuring the chart control too.

This page utilizes the plot pack for the charting: http://www.instrumentationopc.com/

OPC Explorer with Trending

This screenshot is taken from our presentation computer at the ISA Show in Houston, TX in October of 2004. This presentation showed the OPC Web Client OPC Explorer alongside the OPC Trender. In fact, the two web-pages worked together. We would show the OPC browsing in effect, and then check the boxes beside the Tags in the OPC Explorer and then click the option to “Chart the selected Tags” which would then cause the Chart in the other browser to start logging these Tags.

Trending within the browser is accomplished with the Plot Pack:
