The OPC Web Client benefits from an intelligent back-end that handles all activity with the OPC Server(s). Here's a summary of how the OPC Web Client works when you read a Tag:
- Establishes a connection to an OPC Server
- Adds the necessary Groups and Tags
- Sets-up a subscription to those Tags
- Server sends updated values to the OPC Web Client

- OPC Web Client caches these values for quick access to your applications
- Tag writes are immediately processed
- Intelligently drops Tags, Groups and Connections after a period of inactivity

OPC Connections:
- Automatically connects to an OPC Server the first time you Read/Write a Tag.
- Automatically keeps trying to reestablish broken connections to an OPC Server.
- Automatically disconnects from an OPC Server after a period of inactivity freeing-up resources on the OPC Server.
- No limits to the number of concurrent OPC Server connections.
Group and Tag Handling:
- Automatically adds and removes OPC Group(s) to/from the OPC Server.
- Automatically adds and removes OPC Tags to/from OPC Groups in the OPC Server.
- Automatically subscribes to Tags so as to cache the most up-to-date tag values
- Conserves resources by intelligently removing these resources when not being used.
- No limits to the number of Tag Groups and Tags that can be used.

Tag Reads and Writes:
- Optimal performance accomplished via fast and accurate data caching
- You have access to the Tag details, value, quality and time stamp
- Tag writes are not cached, but processed immediately.
- You can read individual Tags or multiple Tags within a single transaction.
- You can write to individual Tags or multiple Tags within a single transaction.
